October 24, 2025Nepal’s Spiritual Heritage and the “World Guru Nation Nepal” Vision !
Kathmandu, Nepal – The global campaign promoting “World Guru Nation Nepal” continues to gain international attention through initiatives highlighting Nepal’s ancient spiritual traditions, yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, and Himalayan wisdom.
As part of this vision, the 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated at the sacred Mount Kailash–Manasarovar region under the leadership of Sadguru Yogi Acharya Rajan Sharma, founder of the Global Society for Peace and Spiritual Science (GSPSS). According to the organizers, the event brought together 108 yogis from Nepal and several other countries in a collective yoga and meditation gathering dedicated to world peace, harmony, and spiritual awakening.
During the celebration, the participants assembled in the shape of the National Flag of Nepal, symbolically expressing the campaign’s message of “World Guru Nation Nepal” and promoting Nepal’s rich spiritual and yogic heritage.
According to GSPSS, the gathering is believed to be among the highest-altitude International Yoga Day celebrations of its kind held in the Mount Kailash–Manasarovar region. The organizers stated that the event attracted attention from regional media and tourism authorities, recognizing its unique spiritual significance.
The celebration also highlighted the pilgrimage of Mr. Bhimsen Sapkota, widely known as Yogi Acharya Rajan Sharma, who was born in Bansbari, Sindhupalchok District, Nepal, and currently resides in Australia. According to the organizers and the supporting travel company, he completed the approximately 52-kilometre Mount Kailash Kora (circumambulation) barefoot under challenging Himalayan conditions, including snow and high-altitude terrain.
GSPSS has indicated that it intends to submit supporting evidence to the appropriate authorities for independent verification and consideration of official recognition for this achievement.
Speaking after the pilgrimage, Yogi Acharya Rajan Sharma said:
“I did not undertake this journey to set a record. My only intention was to share the message of peace, yoga, and Nepal’s spiritual heritage with the world. If this journey contributes in any way to enhancing Nepal’s dignity and inspiring humanity, I consider it a blessing from Lord Shiva, the grace of the Himalayan sages, and a tribute to my motherland.”
The organizers also noted that Nepal’s national flag used during the International Yoga Day celebration had been ceremonially handed over before the expedition as part of the campaign to represent Nepal’s spiritual heritage internationally.
For nearly two decades, the Global Society for Peace and Spiritual Science (GSPSS) has been conducting free online education and training in yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, Vedic wisdom, public speaking, and spiritual science for participants around the world. According to the organization, its daily international programs aim to promote peace, self-awareness, holistic well-being, and universal human values.
Participants from various yoga organizations described the Mount Kailash gathering as an inspiring symbol of international friendship, spiritual unity, and humanity’s shared aspiration for peace. The organizers expressed their commitment to continuing similar global initiatives that promote yoga, compassion, harmony, and Nepal’s enduring spiritual heritage.
